How true, Don. This picture tells a common story.

Nobody seems to talk verbally anymore. This is how they avoid confrontation and carefully craft responses. A terrible way to communicate actually.

I have a friend who says he can't "just" call his son by phone. Instead he has been instructed to text him when he wishes to talk. His son then calls his father at his convenience. My son-in-law has given me similar instructions also.
I really find that extremely dis-tasteful and dis-respectful.

My dear and departed Mother in Law had a useful expression for situations of that nature - "Scroom". We have a little display made from an old scrabble letter tray and letters. Calming.
I was at a Live theater matinee yesterday. There were numerous announcements asking people to turn off their phones and that photography was forbidden. There was a lady a seat away from me, had to be late sixties, who simply ignored the policy, viewing her phone during the performance. Annoying. Fortunately "ahem" and a really dirty look was sufficient. I believe this is an addiction.

No they don't Hereford. When I want to reach my grand daughter I send her a text. Calling on the phone gets no response. It is one way of avoiding confrontation, you just don't text back.
Our views on this subject seem to be the same. Thanks for taking the time to view and comment.

No respect for others QD. Agree with you 100%, it is very annoying! You were lucky all it took was one "ahem" and one dirty look to solve the problem. To some social media is an addiction. Glad I am out of the corporate world and not glued to a cell phone. I carry mine for emergency use most of the time or to get directions, it is not glued to my hand.
Thanks for viewing and commenting QD.
