I did, all the way to the Hudson River on the western side of Manhatten, to an area new to me. My goal was the 79th St. boat basin.
I actually had to go into Wikipedia to learn about what I had shot.
From the end of the bus route, I took a trail that goes underneath the W. Side Highway, probably a two story descent. Top photo: there is quite a bit of beautiful stonework as retaining walls, (with one of NYC’s unfortunates).
2nd photo: under the highway I found an old restaurant (populated by another sleeping homeless person). This project was designed and started nearly one hundred years ago. The restaurant has been out of business since 1962.
3&4: In a month or so, all of these boats will be in drydock or down south someplace. That’s the George Washington Bridge in the background, looking north. FYI, geese in the NYC area do not migrate. They used to.
On the way back to the bus, I found this backlit birdbath.
I plan to go back tomorrow. It needs a lot more exploration.
I do enjoy your tours of NYC!

Thanks, Mike. It’s a great place to which to retire, and so much to shoot.

Second one is nicely composed and you were lucky with the shadows.
GREAT PHOTOS, ISN'T THAT THE ARE KNOWN AS THE "CLOISTERS", ?? (SORRY FOR shouting) Ed
Nice tour David. The restaurant appears to be a place for more exploration.

They are all great photos. I especially like #1 for its feeling of desperation and loneliness and #3 for its nautical imagery, the pilings frame the sailboat perfectly.
Great job!
