A lot of work, but it should split fairly easily. I enjoy heating with firewood.

Some of it is still pretty green but we have a back pasture that we just stack it up and give it a few years to dry out...it's splits easy then.

Nice set of images

It doesn't take us long to get a load...1 of us cuts while the other marks the tree to the length we want, then stands them on end for the person that will split them if needed...then we both load and stack. We take turns using the chainsaw...so it's pretty easy.

When you are retired, Cindy, "work" is a four letter word (LOL). I am happy to see your hubby using a Stihl. I had mine for over 30 years until we moved "urban." My old neighbor is still using it.

Thanks Mike...we have a few Stihl saws...they are workhorses!

Nice logging shots -- even better woodpecker shots. Must be a Hairy as looks too big for a Downey.

Thanks! I agree...the bill on this guy is pretty long...so I am thinking a Hairy woodpecker.

A friend of ours has about 30 acres and this last windstorm we had blew down about 25 trees on his place...wind gusts over 80 mph recorded in Lakeside for that storm. We helped him rebuild a shed that got destroyed so he is letting us get some firewood from the fir trees that blew down.

Was a pretty easy load to get since the trees were already down!
