C***D V*****e and Guillain Barre Syndrome

Just received a call from a very close 57 year old friend. His call started out "Just wanted to let you know what is going on."
He explained that he was in the hospital, and was paralyzed from the chest down. The doctors had informed him that he had what is known as Guillain Barre Syndrome, and they weren't sure if he would return back to normal or not. If he did start showing signs of improvement, it would still be months of Physical Therapy, and learning to walk all over again.
All this started 2 days after he received his first C***D v*****e. Even the doctors have now verified that the v*****e was responsible for his issues. I had never heard of Guillain Barre Syndrome until now, but a Google search shows that a C***D ** v*****e can cause this disorder. It causes your i****e s****m to attack the nerves in your own body and can cause multiple issues and paralysis. I'm curious as to why this isn't more well known about the v*****e, but now may understand why some nurses and doctors would rather lose their jobs then get the injection.

Your friend is very unlucky and I hope he recovers albeit with some nerve damage as that is usually the case.
Guillain Barre Syndrome is very rare although there are between 3000 and 6000 cases reported each year usually caused by a bacterial infection. You are more likely to get GBS from the flu or C***d ** itself.
As far as the v*****es go there have been 100 cases reported out of over 12 million doses of the J&J v*****e...none from the P****r or M*****a v*****es. That works out to .0008% so it is extremely rare and that may be the reason you did not hear of this previously.
