I'm still working to get the color channels masked on the Ha data image but, frustration has got me . So , until I get this technique figured out have a LOOKSEE. I gave it a lil microsoft tint but, raw is forreal.

Well I know nothing about monochrome imaging, but you're doing pretty well on the Eagle.

For only 39 minutes of exposure that came out well, I took around 12 hours to get a full color image and a narrow band image of M16. See link below for more info.

...

Great start!

I don't quite understand your comment about masking the color channels. I simply align and add them to Ha (Red) channel?

Then , I explain it this way. Everytime I add the lrgb to the Ha , I lose the fainter nebulosity. I'm trying it with the ring also with the colors top image and the petals {background image} around it with a hint of red with 15 - 30% opacity combined . I'm trying a different approach , since getting the asi1600m pro camera. Paste it to the background image , like in some of those video's that I've watched but, I just haven't got it yet.

I'm not too sure what software you're using to create the final combined image; however, if you have LRGB and Ha images and want to combine them, I would suggest you split the LRGB to its R, G and B channels then add the Ha to the R channel and recombine them.

I use PixInsight for all my astrophotography processing. I'd use the LRGB Combine tool in PixInsight to get an end result. In this case I might also use the Ha as the L channel to retain its nebulosity.

In most cases I use pixel math to add the HA to the red channel and then do the LGRB combination. In a few cases I have found that I needed to reduce the intensity of the red channel before the addition to keep from blowing out the image with too much red. In one case with M82 I just used the HA as the red channel with reasonable results. I have found I just experiment to get it to look decent.

How true! Normally many iterations before I get something I like. It is truly an art form!

Wow, you’ve really improved! It’s been awhile since if checked in. Quite a big change from the struggles you had with the other Mount.

Yes Brian , a luck has come my way with this Avx . The Meade taught me , patience and to deal with a lot of frustration. If I could only figure out adding a color layer to a background layer in Ps , I was hoping you would jump back on the Hog . This processing is beating me to death.

This video shows how to add Ha as a luminance layer in PS. You can jump to around 10 mins into the video to see it. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=can+i+add+a+luminance+layer+on+photoshop%3f&view=detail&mid=608A01E426D3D413BBF9608A01E426D3D413BBF9&FORM=VIRE But as was previously mentioned, you can add the Ha to the Red channel in PS. Here is a step by step process. http://www.bf-astro.com/tutorial/addHa.htm

Hope it helps. Processing takes a lot of patience, kinda like trying to work with your old mount 😀

Thanks Brian , I'll have to check the videos tomorrow . I hope that everything is fine and dandy with you and family? We've been taking on home improvements during the Covid restrictions. Something really has to give since getting this pro camera , I've been trying to gather as much data between the clouds.
