Mourning Dove Feeding - test of Canon 70-300L + 1.4x

Actually a test of a different combo:
5DIV, 70-300L+Kenko 1.4x Teleplus MC4 DGX* @ 420mm, 1/640 @ f/8.0, ISO-8000
Hand held at about 25', in open shade about 6:30PM May 11, 2021

Notice it got good feather detail in spite of the high ISO due to being in late afternoon shade. Topaz Denoise AI used and a bit of tonal tweaking due to the shade and cropping.

*The Canon extenders specifically state not for use under 100mm so my 1.4x III works great on the 100-400L mk2 (and the first model also) but not the zooms or primes below 100mm. This Kenko doesn't have that problem and because the MC4 was made for Canon lenses and cameras all the functions like AF work.

Thanks

With the spate of questions about extenders/teleconverters and the arguments about if they can produce good results I figured this image might answer some of those questions.

Yes, it is really important (to Canon users) in knowing which extenders will allow f8 AF on a f5.6 lens. Do you have a non-Canon lens to do this test on ??

I use a Tamron 180 macro with a 1.4x for hummingbirds fairly often. And I have the dedicated 1.4x for my Tamron 150-600 G2 but that becomes MF and needs a tripod and a day with really good light.
