Here are parts of a 36 frame sequence I got yesterday USAC of a Silver Crown car having a problem. When Jim Anderson #92 came off of turn 2 he had a problem and nosed into the back straight wall directly in front of #18 Travis Welpott. Number 18 rode over #92 and flipped down the back straight. I picked up on the action just after the initial contact.
I used my Nikon D3s and a SW 80~200mm F:2.8D at F:8 and 1/640 shutter and AutoISO.
No one was injured, in fact #18 Travis Welpott removed himself from #18 and brushed himself off and walked back to the pits. The last (10th) image show how close they run under the green flag.
very nice capture of the action , Tommy
I’ve seen these guys run before; they are exciting, for sure. Nascar and Indy car are rather tame after watching these guys in Silver Crown, sprints, etc. I have seen Travis run a sprint car at Anderson in the Little 500 several times. Nice set of photos, by the way.
