Photoshop and the New Sony ZV E10

Recently purchased the Sony ZV E10 and shot my first stills yesterday. Down loaded them to my computer and Photoshop kept telling me Camera Raw needed updating I was up to date. Called Adobe and after he did a lot of searching said I had to shoot in JPEG till they update the system in November. He tried to convert files to a DNG but no luck. So I am going to shoot some more today and try it again. Just for your information in case you run into the problem.

Did any software apps come with the camera or do the instructions give an url to obtain it from Sony? Most manufacturers have an app to covert raw files to DNG, TIFF or something similar.

No Adobe should have it updated in November. Adobe tried to convert to a DNG but could not do it. Shooting in JPEG for now.

I believer Sony has a free app that will work to view and edit all its current camera raw files, including from the ZV E10.

This is the type of app I was referring to for you to use until Adobe does their updates.

Hi
Thanks for the info but they want you to use image desktop. I am able to shoot in JPEG and then photoshop works fine. The camera is just too new so will have to wait till November. So far the camera ZV E10 and the Tamron 18 to 300 lens is really a good combination. tried the lens on my Sony A7R2 and it was just as good with more zoom. Enjoy your Saturday.

Whatever works best for you. Learning a new application as an interim solution is a pain, but likely worth it for those who need/want the additional flexibility of working raw files.

You could always still shoot raw files, and use an application like Faststone Image Viewer to see and convert raw files to jpeg or tiff, while you wait for Adobe to release the update. Faststone is free to download and use.

Adobe tried to use a program to convert the raw files to DNG but that was not up to date for the camera yet. I shot some stills yesterday and used jpeg and they came out great. If I need to shoot in raw will use the A7R2. Wanted to let anyone know who might have purchased one the problem so they do not go crazy thinking it is their program or computer. Have a beautiful Sunday and thanks for the feed back.

Sony should have software for converting to TIFF as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will shoot jpeg with that camera and if raw is needed will use the A7RII. Wanted to let other people know about the problem so they do not go crazy thinking it is their program. Enjoy your Sunday

Understood. I shoot JPEG so I don’t consider it inferior, JPEG just has different different trades.

I am not trying to change your mind. But it’s good too have options, no? Who knows maybe you will have the ZV in hand and standing in front of a scene where you want to switch to raw (+ JPEG), so that could be a good backup plan.
