I finally got some acceptable photos of the new feline family that has been coming to eat in my yard (2 days, now). These were taken pretty late in the day and aren't calendar quality, but I think you can see them well enough.

Cute. Watch, Wild cats could multiply & get a little out of hand. There were some at a place I worked at an industrial complex. Even with people taking quite a few home & finding homes, there were still quite a few.

Well, I already have 5 adult cats in the house, and I'm not sure how they'd react to newcomers. I have one "regular" outdoor kitty, too--Mollie. I spent big bucks a few years ago to fix a broken rear leg of hers and she's been very reliable and comes when I call her (if she can hear it). Mollie does let me pet her when she comes, but she doesn't like the newcomers. The new family is still pretty skittish, but if I remain still they'll come in. The kittens are old enough to eat solid food, so it may be too late to handle them and get them domesticated. I'd love to have them, though, and I'd accept the mama, too. I've had as many as 7 indoor cats and 5 outdoor cats in the past, but I haven't added to the indoor clutch in 11 years. I'm going to need to trap the new ones and take them to the Vet--I usually neuter the females, and would like to know that they all are healthy.

What a job being an animal lover ... it's not for sissies! One of our feral felines (Who we feed)is about to have her litter under our back deck. We already have two cats and a small dog!

No such thing of people having outdoor cats just lazy owners. My neighbor feeds feral cats and they piss over all the neighbors bushes including mine. My front bushes smell like cat urine.

photophile, thanks for coming. I'm pleased you liked the photos of my new outdoor family.

sidwalkastronomy, I'm sorry that you have problems with feral cats. I try to get the females who come to my yard neutered so that there is not a proliferation of kittens. I do not have a rodent problem due to the frequent presence of cats outdoors (and the 5 still indoors). All my indoor cats (7 total, 2 now dead) began as feral kittens born in or near my yard; the mothers remained feral and were regular visitors. I don't know how the newcomers will end up--they've just begun to visit me.
