I'm seeking guidance on using a large TV as a computer monitor (primarily) and possibly for post processing

"I had the same problem even with using progressive lens eyeglasses. Read about glasses made for monitors. I don't know what they are called, neither did the optometrist, but he did change something that helped a lot."

I have excellent vision up close, not so much for distance. I have worn glasses for nearly 70 years, bi-focals, then tri-focals (for computer use) over the past few years. Recently, my optometrist gave me one prescription for halfway between my near and distant vision correction. Costco filled the prescription. For me, these are good for about 24" to 8', just right for computer screens and tv sets. Yes, it does somewhat defeat the purpose of wearing trifocals, in that I now have a separate set of glasses to keep track of, but I find them much better for computer work in particular, since the screen doesn't move in and out, and I get the full lens through which to look.

Good luck with your search; this has worked for me.

I wore corrective lenses for 60+ years and was told that I could not join the army, but when I asked "can I get out?" the answer was "No!". Anyway about20 years ago I had cataract surgery in both eyes, they fixed the problem and now I am corrective lens free. Not sure whether your insurance will pay for the surgery w/o the cateracts though..

My vision declined with age. I don't do well with small fonts and need good light and contrast to see well.

My main requirement is a big screen that I can use as my computer monitor hanging on the wall at eye level 24 - 30" away. I'm not sure how this would work out with my current Graphics Processor (NVIDIA Quadro M600M) in a ThinkPad P70 laptop.

I have an Eizo 24" monitor I can use for Post Processing. I think it's a CTX, but it's in storage currently; it's definitely not the top of the line.

Would you please provide any suggestions, data, or advice you have?

I'm open to getting a big computer monitor if needed and not too expensive.

Thanks in advance for your input.

As we speak I have a Dell Optiplex 990 hooked up to a 65" Samsung 4k SmartTV across the room and, without any adjustments made, colors are not as crisp compared to my primary 28" 4k monitor but I haven't used it to post process images on and it works real well for viewing and reading on. If I get a font that is real small, and for some reason cannot enlarge it, which I can mostly, I have to move a bit closer to see clearly but beyond that, I really enjoy the setup. I keep my "processing" computers in my basement so this setup is for convenience sake and it works great for me.

I very often link my laptop and desktop to a 75" Samsung 4K television. I'm far sighted and a 'monitor' across the room is wonderful. Otherwise I'm using dual 27" monitors and reading glasses.

Costco has had 32" LG monitors at very good prices. Check them out.

I have 2 of them (model 32GN50T-B.AUS). They work very well for photo editing.

Like one of your other responders, I also use a 43" Samsung 4k TV. Simple hookup and very sharp with good colors. My grandson gave me a robot vacuum for Christmas and I took it back to Best Buy and swapped it for the TV.

Ok I've had it with this system. Below these posts there are three options: Reply, Quote Reply, Report Issue. I click reply under the post I want to reply to and it doesn't show up in/after that post. I haven't like this system since day one. It's convoluted and must have been made by the russians or something. It'd be nice to have a like/agree/no agree/etc button for each post too. OR just some kind of software/system that makes it a little cleaner and easier to use to follow peoples comments. I'm done. For now...

This is how this forum works. Someone posts a topic, perhaps a question or a fact to pass along, and others comment on it in a linear fashion. The posts come in and are added to the topic as them come in. When you want to comment on a comment, you simply click on Quote Reply, and the person's comment is stated before yours. This enables you to make sure that others know who and what you're replying to. There are other ways to organize the replies, such as the way they're done in Facebook or other social media sites, but I find this system to be more efficient than those. Just my opinion.
