The Georgetown Loop, an early attempt to handle Mining and Tourism, A 3 foot narrow gauge railroad ride through spectacular scenery, and something of an engineering marvel. https://georgetown-colorado.org/georgetown-loop-railroad/ . The Locomotive pulls one way and pushes back. Highly recommend it if you travel somewhere near. DF with AF S 24-120 1:4 G ED and D3 with 24-85 1:3.5 4.5 G ED

I've ridden trains most of my life. Free pass. My dad worked for the railroad for 46 year. Last train ride was from Tn to Ontario. I do love trains. Fantastic shots!

Most interesting series, and an engineering marvel for sure! The narrow-gauge RR's were often the only way to access the mining sites and were quite an adventure to ride!

Very appealing series. I've always liked trains and have some great memories of trips on them. Thanks for sharing.

I used to go to George Town at least 3 times every summer before the pandemic. The loop is an amazing sample of engineering allowing train to climb the mountain with heavy loads. Guanella Pass is also great leaf peeping in the fall.

Thanks very much! If you get the chance to go, leave time for a visit to Idaho Springs. Quaint, well kept little town, good food, interesting waterfall. I didn't have time for more than a few snaps & lunch. Next time!

Seemed pretty normal when we were there, few masks and plenty of folks for a week day. I lucked out with weather and leaves.

Beautiful tour, QD. We have been to Idaho Springs several times on our way to ski, but we have never stopped in Georgetown. I will put it on my "to do" list.

Thanks! I'd certainly recommend it as an excellent little adventure and photo stop.
