https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSj4Qxa1oPAI had created a new small mud-puddle just two days before with fresh tap water and a pile of yellow autumn leaves I picked up from edge of the sidewalk. When I checked on it today, I saw islands of biofilm already covering the surface. The microscope revealed a jungle of bacteria and small flagellates (about .005 mm in size) bunching all over the surface. There were some larger ciliates as well but they were overwhelmed in the mass phenomena.
