I spent 2 1/2 weeks in Austria as guide for a small group. That role does not afford me the time for photography I would like, but I am a devout believer in travel others pay for. I have been to all of these places many times, but I have picked out a few shots that managed to rise above snapshots.

This is the tomb of Marie Christine, favorite daughter of Empress Maria Theresa, located in the Augustinerkirche in Vienna. She was married to Albert von Teschen, hence the reference to "Albertus."

Grossglockner, the highest peak in Austria. If you download this and look at the ice field below the summit, there are two group of climbers. They are much sharper in the original, but the size limitation here requires a smaller file.

VERY NICE! I lived in Vienna as a child, and traveled through Austria many times during my college years in Munich. Two years ago I went on a "walking tour" of Vienna, and even visited the house I lived in as a child. Austria holds many fond memories for me, and affords photographers great opportunities. You've portrayed the country nicely. I look forward to your follow-up posts.
An excellent set. Beautiful work.

Fantastic set of images!!!
Interesting, nice shots. Numbers two, three, and four are my favorites.
Beautiful images - well done!
Great set of images makes me want to travel to Austria. The shrinking glacier is fascinating.

Thanks to everyone for you kind comments. I will post another set later today when I have a little more time.
Could there be two other climbers on the lefthand peak, some distance from one another? There is also a vertical object on the highest peak, but it appears too large to be a human when compared to the climbers on the snowfield. Perhaps old eyes just seeing things...
Very good series, Vienna.
