I like the original a lot, good cropping and strong color. For me the conversion is too edgy for my taste, maybe somewhere in-between.
Looking one more time before I post my comment I started thinking the sky might be what is really bothering me on the conversion edit, if that was toned down it might be better suited. The sky is getting too much attention in my opinion.
