Peculiar Problem with UHH Upload

"...I never heard of Brave..." Brave is based on Chromium, a Google-sponsored free and open-source web browser. The same technology Google uses for its Chrome browser and Microsoft for Edge. Chromium is also the brains behind lesser-used browsers, including Amazon Silk, Opera, Vivaldi, and many more.

While Brave Software claims it is much faster, independent testing by Avast proves it's not
The results are as follows. The larger the number, the better the speed.

Safari, 133
Microsoft Edge, 125.63
Google Chrome, 105.17
Vivaldi, 104.3
Brave, 101.43
Opera, 101.3
Mozilla Firefox, 92.1

What Brave offers is a more configurable security scenario. Allows one the ability to block tracking cookie etc.
If you don't want major corporations or government entities to track you via data mining Brave may be a choice.

The down side? Based on Open Source it will be hacked... it's inevitable...
The "Black Hat" programmers based in Israel, Pakistan and Russia are able to gain access to virtually all browser analytics... as the the saying goes... "While you can run, you can never hide..."

Israel is a major source of malware sales... Tailored to their client's needs.

On the positive side: Brave’s most compelling goal is to eliminate ads and trackers. These are the annoyances that companies like Google have used to make billions of dollars for their shareholders. Kudos to Brave here

When I select the photo number in the UHH Choose photo function all I can get to upload are the Restaurant photos with the same numbers as the fox photos. Both are visible and accessible / usable in Windows Live. I believe UHH does recall the particular directory, it did when I uploaded two other sets from my recent trip. Though I haven't done it, I can almost certainly modify the file designation in camera.

Not sure what you mean by "same numbers as the fox photos" Sounds to me like your browser has those file names in it's catch and is not reloading them from the Hog. You probably just need to clear your catch. I believe you can do this in Brave by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete Keys.

2 cameras have the same number series at the same time, D7200 6462-6466 for Fox, D3 6462-646x for Restaurant photos. Apparently UHH recognized the D3 photos taken later and not the others till I changed the name. All good now - see Fast Fox. Thanks for the ideas!

I've had ads pop up that pertain to the content of some of my emails. This has happened several times. Google says they no longer scan your emails for potential ad material, but I don't believe them.

Since you point out that it just keeps on uploading the restaurant and that the restaurant file is *newer*, it seems that it believes that the later date means it’s the most recent edit of that file name.

It doesn’t expect different files having the same name. It thinks they are different edits of the same file, and acoarst the newest edit would be the preferred, more finished, version.

Figured it was probably something like that. Strange situation seems to exist only on UHH, but with a quick name change, no prob.

Changing the name will work for sure, but, just for reference, the hog doesn't care about file names. Your browser does, be it FireFox, Brave or any other browser. Browsers all will save files in it's cache, which is a separate folder on your computer for this purpose. When your browser is asked to download a photo, say a picture on the Hog, it first looks in it's cache for that file and if it's there, it loads that file (picture in your case) in the browser and displays that old picture on the screen. This saves time downloading the same file over and over. This can, and does cause the exact problem you just had, and a solution is to clear your catch. You could find the folder on your computer used to store this temporary files and delete the files, or, in Brave case, pressing the Shift+Ctrl+Del keys will do that for you. Doesn't hurt anything at all, the files are stored only for the above purpose, and "clearing the catch" simply means your browser will have to download the photo again instead of from its catch.

Since they seem to have the same file names, I hope that when you copied the photos to your PC, you put them in different folders. If you did, when choosing the photo to upload, make sure you navigate to the correct folder containing the proper photos. Then select the one you want.

Thanks! I organize mostly by date. Changing the name worked for UHH, everything else has worked as usual.

Once I was sending a hockey related email to a friend, and the popup ad was from a local dentist who I skated with. And Google says they are not reading ads.
