Nice set of images Mike, but sad to see how the water level has receded.

Thanks for looking and your comment, Vince.

UTMike, lovely photos however a sad state of affairs illustrating the devastation of the drought conditions occurring in the American West. The warmer climate and dry air accelerate the evaporation of surface water which is then carried away. When the rate of evaporation along with consumption is greater than what can be replenished, drought conditions set in and life that depends on the wetlands suffers greatly.

I can’t agree more, Mike! Your great photos serve as a sad reminder...

My point is not to blame, but to point out that we must take conditions into account and do what we can, not just seek someone to blame.

UT, if you know the Salton Sea you'll be amazed at what they are trying to do. Think of the great demand for Lithium in recent years and think of what the Salton Sea is and you'll understand. This lake was the playground for many years and now it's nearly a Ghost Town (or better a Ghost Lake.) Gen. Patton used it and the land around it for training in Africa. Go on YouTube and learn what it is and has been. Also, learn about Salvation Mtn. (which is not a Mtn. but a hill) which is a short distance from the Salton Sea.

No offence to you or me, I do like those whose point is not to blame, but do what we can.

This evening our local Palm Springs news had the latest report saying the Salton Sea Lithium Project will be drilling the Lithium from way down in the Earth bringing the lithium up from the center of volcanoes. They are using a new process and will be the largest project in the world. China really surprised me because it was shown as the 4th largest lithium producer. I think it showed Australia the largest as of now.

In this area there are volcanoes of 9 feet high. I've climbed up and look down inside some of them. A very fine wet moosh comes up and smells like sulphur and other minerals. They don't let the public in to see this any more. I've taken quite a bit of it home because I'm an artist and wanted to see if it could be fired-as is. It was strong and seems to be good firing clay.

Who knows if I fired a piece of clay that would start my car or fire up my cell phone? (a joke)
