It might seem like a good idea to crush aluminum cans before recycling them, but crushed cans do not go through the system very well. That can depend on how the cans are processed, though - but how many of us are familiar with local recycling systems?

Then it's up to the recycling companies to get the consumers hip on how recycling process works. Then again, you can fit a hell of a lot more cans in a bag when their crushed!

I have a private company that picks up my trash. If anyone wants to steal my trash they are welcome to it. It is outrageous that government would think the trash belongs to them. BTW very few items are actually recycled almost all recyclables go to land fill.

The giant landfill where all the trash in my area goes, also does the recycling. The place is huge and the actual landfill portion of the property is the highest point for miles. The place is so big it even has a system of nature trails throughout the property. They turn as much trash into money as possible. They even harvest and sell the methane gas produced by the landfill.

The next thing recyclers will want is for us to remove any labels or paint and maybe if we could run it through our portable shredders so they don't have to buy their own. Some landfills are more tidy than the cities the debris came from. Just my two pence worth.

You've been assigned to a naval ship that is moored in port and having some work aboard by contractors. The contractors place a debris box on the pier to throw away material being removed from the work being done on the ship. All such material then belongs to the company doing the work. It's not only the government that thinks that way.....

Coke and Pepsi are switching to bottles which use the same type of plastic for the top as used for bottle.

While I agree trash diving is not illegal, taking all the goodies (Al) will make reclying more expensive for the rest and thus taxpayers. Last year they quit reclying all plastics where I live because no one would buy them? Restarted this year. We take all trash to a central collection area where separable bins are used for different kinds of paper, glass, metals, etc. so rest was still being reclyed.

Problem with not reclying is dumps fill up faster and no one wants a new dump near them even in the boonies.

Does something first have to be cycled and then re-cycled. If it is cycled twice is it a by-cycle
