I am heading back to Vietnam 10-31-2012. I never thought I would return.I was in the 823rd Combat Security Police and traveled all over the country. My second tour was at Nha Trang in the Security Police. Like Sarge mentioned I want to show veterans what it is like now and through the eyes of a veteran. I plan on sharing what I capture with as many people as possible.I would appreciate any help on a way to share a large amount of photos with out bogging down someones pc. I have my D7000 warmed up and this time I'll be holding on to my wife not my M-60.

Well Brother, I plan on putting 10 photos at a time on here from all that I get. I plan on cities, towns, local culture, farms and rural houses and the people. I doubt if the authorities are going to let us photograph military and the such.
Let me know how it goes for ya Brother when you get back. It'll prepare me for my visit to the past.

As a Vietnam vetran I look forward to your pictures. I suggest you open a flickr account(it's free) and start a set labeled Vietnam re-visited or something and upload all your pics that you think are worthwhile. That way all you have to do is post the link and anyone can just click on it and view them all.

puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes! Enjoy your trip. My stepdaughter visited a couple of years ago as that is her mother's country and managed to take a photo that her dad took many years before when he was serving our country, imagine that! Her visit sure made her more appreciative of living here in the United States.
Wow! Thank you for sharing those. Would love to see more.

Thanks, Randy! Did 2 tours at Cam Ranh, 12th TAC Fighter Wing. I salute you!!
Just can't ever go back. (My D7000 and I will be praying for your flight and time there!)
A girl scout from a local troop in my hometown sent me a Charle's Chip can filled with cookies packed in popcorn. On the top was a small plastic bag filled with dirt. A note attached said:
"In case you get so homesick and lonesome that it hurts,
place this bag under your feet and stand on American dirt."
When I returned, I took the troop to lunch and met that little girl. Long ago we lost touch, but that note is still such a long part of my life. It got me through some very tough times. Can't say thank you to her often enough. It's always the little things that make the deepest impact.
Have a super trip!
Heart,
Thank you !! for serving also. The other day I was at the Grand Canyon, I had my Vietnam Combat Veteran hat on, a man and his family stopped me and thanked me profusely for serving our county, I had tears in my eyes,my camera wouldn't focus. That meant more to me than any politician blowing smoke.
Thanks again deepdiverv ( Randy )
Harold Moore and Joe Galloway wrote a book about returning to Vietnam called "We are Soldiers Still". A good read.
