After 5 pages of playing 20 questions TV game... speculation with little information, one can only say that supernatural forces were at work... or that the card was defective...
SD cards do not make noise when thrown into the dumpster... perhaps more fitting would be to put it in the traffic stream of a busy highway. The SD card is dead, long live the camera.

It’s definitely 8mb….and very old. Other cards work fine.
I am not familiar with your camera at all, however, I looked up the manual on-line.
If I interpreted what I read there correctly, the lowest quality and smallest size image your camera will take is just over 9 mb. With the card being 8 mb, there is not enough space to record an image and the card will send a message "I'm full".
Then, when you try to play back, you'll get the message "no image" -because there was not enough space to record an image.
The solution of course is easy: get a (much) larger card.

Yep on page 1... oops I missed that... well a size 12 foot does not fit in a size 10 shoe nor even one 9 mb photo in an 8 mb memory... Time for the trash else it may be on a shoot and rear its shrunken head again.

You’re right…and I generally do use much larger cards.
Here’s the back story: I was on vacation and found the 8mb card in its case buried in a pocket of my camera bag. I had no idea what, if anything, was on it so I put in the
camera to check it out and got the messages I reported. I generally find manuals user “unfriendly” but I checked it and came to the same conclusion as you…and others have pointed out. My only take is that the card goes back to my older LUMIX FZ so when I get back home I’ll check the card in that camera. But I’m good now!

A camera can ONLY read images from a card that's written by very narrow range of cameras, perhaps only the same model or maybe the same brand camera, probably not a different brand camera and certainly not a non-image file. If you REALLY want to know what is on the card, if anything, USE A COMPUTER.

I think I might be tempted to have that 8mb card framed and then treat it as a museum piece....
What setting is the size of your photograph.

I understand that. I’m trying to determine why, in shooting mode, the camera tells me the card is full and in viewing mode it says there’s no image available.
pretty simple if you ask me. The camera is going to tell you it is full if the card doesn't have enough room to save the image you are trying to take. and will more them likely show empty as there hasn't been a image saved.

Me too! Thanks. All my other cards are “up to date”. The card in question was buried in its case in a pocket in my bag. I had no idea how long it had been there (years😳?) and wanted to find out what was on it…which led to my post…which led to all the advice😳.
It was your curse to have found the card. Better it had been lost and never found.
