Well, I just finished my 9th season as Tram driver/tour guide in Yosemites' Mariposa grove of giantSequoias. It was a fun season, (as usual), but I'm ready for some time off. I think I only took 5 pictures the whole time, too busy driving and answering questions. We saw more bears this year than normal. Plus, about 17 bears were hit by cars, a few survived. (Thank God.) I hit a mule dear as I was driving to my first day back. A 67 year old lady went into cardiac arrest at our museum, and even though they worked on her for over an hour, she didn't make it. Looking forward to chatting here with all you great people. Then come May, I'll start my 10th season there.

It sounds like you have a job that you don't dread getting up and going to.

Is this the type vehicle you were driving?

Looks like a great place to spend the summer, having fun and making money.

I have been to Alaska twice and Canada once and have YET to see a bear. I live in SC and while I was in Alaska a friend of mine went to NC and saw 2 bears and I hear you talking about numerous bears. Tell me THE best time of year to come to Yosemite to see bears. I'm about to wonder about the "be careful what you wish for" phrase and if I should chill out. :D I bet it is fun to work somewhere like that. No one got eaten by a bear this season, did they? :D

Howdy Y'-all, sorry for the late answer but after writing this I have been in the hospital, finally getting released this past Sunday and still recouperating. (Must be the shock of facing reality again!) I'll chat more later but all I can san at this point is this was my best Thanksgiving ever, I'm lucky to be alive.

I wonder if you remember way back, when the Park & Curry Co. had a Cadillac dealership where the bus maintenance is now located on the valley floor?

Thanks. I looked it up and it looks great. My mother in law (83) looked up too (we always go to Alaska together) and got discouraged when it said you had to be reasonably in good shape. I don't think she'll be able to make any more trips there but you never know about her. I still think it would be interesting to go to Wrangall, Ala just to check it out. I'm sure there are easier tours than that one. I'd love to get some photos of bears eating salmon and will one day. I didn't have long to look at the site but will some more later. Thanks again.
