Retired CPO Loc: Travel full time in an RV
 
We saw this guy in shallow water on a drive through Black Point Wildlife Drive. I'm assuming it's a fish but no idea what kind? Couldn't tell for sure how big he was but at least two feet we think.

The dorsal fin seems a tad back, but the scales say carp.

Yes, carp or a small alligator gar-some of them have scales similar to that.

Looks like Gar to me. Their dorsal fin (which doesn't show in the pic) is way, way back near the tail.

Thanks. Two feet long is a small Gar? The dorsal fin is way back and is several inches long longitudinally. I've never seen a Gar that color before.

I take it back. I just downloaded the pic and enlarged it. What looks like the dorsal fin on the left side appears much longer than I initially thought it was. I'm switching to Carp.
