Caterpillar and frog.
A Grey Dagger Moth Caterpillar, Acronicta psi. with a mite or two.
A Common Frog (Rana temporaria) by our fish pond and about to eat a caterpillar.
Great shots. Is that one of those don't touch them kind of cats?
Brenda those are spectacular photos. I like them a lot.

Fine photos! Thread title like a Victorian Children's Book. Fun.
Those are lovely! I don't recall the cat.

I was sort of thinking, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland. I like your idea.

Thanks Curmudgeon, I cannot find any information that says the UK caterpillar of this moth is poisonous but it seems a general rule not to touch hairy caterpillars. Apparently, the US version is called a Black Dagger Moth caterpillar which is very similar and apparently that one does have poisonous hairs but I am not knowledgeable on moths and their caterpillars.

Thanks quixdraw, yes that would be a good title for a Children's book.

Thanks Mark, I have read that the US has a slighly different version called the Black Dagger Moth caterpillar.

Excellent, Brenda.
Thanks Ken, I hope all is well with you.
Nice images of a couple of nice subjects. The only thing needed is some anticipatory drool on the corner of the frog's mouth in the second picture. He looks like he is watching his next meal with his mouth open.

Ha ha, I expect he was thinking of his next meal, he had a caterpillar in front of him. Thanks for commenting.
Super sharp shots Brenda. A wonderful set. Well done.
