I spent last weekend at the races here in New Jersey. I go every year. The photos tend to all be about the same really, so playing around with different processing ideas can make the photos more interesting to non race fans.

Glad you liked it. I don't think that a magazine would want the shot dolled up like that; but for regular viewers, I think it adds interest.

Nice capture Erich. I prefer the first one but the processing on the second is interesting

I can understand that. The first one is "real" and the second is more "graphic". Interesting to post them both. I could go either way.

The second picture is over-cooked in my opinion. The motorcycle could have been sharpened while leaving everything else as is. The original is certainly striking and gravity-defying. Thanks for posting.

The first shot is the keeper. I opened it up in photoshop to see what I could see, it was very good. I'll bet your full pixel image is even better. Great job panning Erich.

Good points. I still like them both; but I totally understand your position.

I've been going to these races for years. Panning is still the greatest challenge. I like it when the spokes are blurred, and the track is blurred; but the bike and rider are tack sharp. I generally shoot at about 1/160 or 1/250. Without burst mode I think it would be very hard to get keepers shooting that slow. Thanks for taking a look.

Very nice PP. as you mentioned that sort of final product would not make a magazine cover. But yours is different from the countless moto race shots.
