I have to be the luckiest guy in the whole world....of course starting with the great wife I have..

Secondly....One of the local business went under and I went to the sale of their equipment yesterday afternoon. Low and behold, they had a 7D that was still in the box and they were asking $500. i offered $350 (as that was all I had) and THEY TOOK IT!!!!!

When they gave it to me they put it AND THE LENS in a bag. I figured it was just the kit lens...IT WAS THE 24-105MM F4 L LENS!!

I couldn't even sleep last nite I was so excited.

Now I have 2 7D and 2 D800

Wow!!! I have to keep pinching myself!!!

And that lens is great!!!

It was good you went. You never know with a business that's closing down.

hahahahahaha....it doesn't usually come out this way. no one was interested in the camera. i went to the sale 6 hours after it started and the camera box was sitting right by the sale moderator in open sight.

i don't think this 7d was ever shot once.

What kind of auto business was it? Unusual for an auto business to have that camera, and employing 70 people makes them a pretty big business.

wages at that plant were the highest around. manufactured products get their costs from labor, materials, etc...

in the place where i work we have close to 200 people working. we manufacture about 10% and import about 90%. no choice. it was a tough decision for the guy that owns our company. but because we get most of our stuff from china, we can stay in business. sad, but true. we do have a new line of made in america clothing..hope it goes well. stuff is priced above my pay grade.

as far as the deal of the century....i got that back some years ago. i found a fender strat aluminum harley davidson guitar at a garage sale for $200. it was like new. that guitar sold for $10k new and there was only 100 of them made.that was one of the guitars i just sold to buy my nikon stuff.

i did buy a lottery ticket this week!!!! maybe my lucky week!!

HAHA well done Jim.
I love hearing good luck stories.
The 7D is a great story but when I read about the Fender that took the cake.
Gotta love that!

Sometimes people get what they deserve. You must have been very good lately. As a Nikon user yourself, give us dark- siders your opinion on the 7D. I know it feels good in my hands.

I suspect this good luck couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Enjoy!

I hate hearing of businesses closing but someone else would have bought that camera. Give it a good home.
