Would like to know which camera is best on the market now? Looking to upgrade.
Thanks.
Ginger
Before anyone can make a recommendation it's probably important to understand what you'd be upgrading from and what you want to do once you've made the move. What equipment are you using now?
Great answer to a somewhat non-framed, open ended question. And why not go for the best? Thanks!

the cameras installed in our nations spy sattelites are the best cameras. they can pick up clearly a pack of cigarettes from orblt. Your question is too wide open. the best camera for you might not be the best camera for me. what are the areas you like to shoot? are you going to be a professionl? if you are doing lots of landscapes in preety inhospitable areas a professional grade camera like a nikon d-3 will be a must. professional grade cameras are still made mostly of metal have better seals designed to be banged around. the best camera in the world is the one that you can use comfortably. many of my shots i post come from a pocket sized nikon point and shoot digital. It is best because i carry it everywhere, almost everyday. for my style of shooting it works perfectly. i do mostly close up and detail shots. this probably isn't the best camera for you. all the emajor brands make quality products nikon cannon, sony, olympus and pentax. My sugestion is look at pentax. they are making some intereresting products lately.

sorry double posted. Clearly i do not have the best typing skills.
The best camera is the one you have with you.

I agree your too vague here. What camera are you upgrading from. Do you have a collection of lenses that you have already invested in? If so you might want to stay with a compatible camera. It's usually the one that feels best to you based on what you want to shoot. Look up what features you want and what lenes you would need or like and factor in your affordability. As you can see you can go for a few hundred to a few thousand. Either way have fun

We are all here to help but you have to be a little more specific. Do you want to carry the camera with you all the time or at least most of the time, or do you want to bridge camera with a lens from 28mm to 800mm or maybe a really decent dslr?? A price range that fits your budget helps to. Do you want to spend 4 grand on just the body and then a couple of hundred on lens or maybe a max of two hundred for a good point and shoot?
We want to help tell us your specifics.

I'm so sorry...I should have been more specific...
I am looking for a good 'Bridge' Camera. I am now using a Sony 5.1 megapixel and wanted to upgrade.
I was told that a good bridge camera would be the Canon. So I am leaning towards the Rebel Model...any comments???
Willing to spend up to $1,000.00.
Actually, if your just getting started, I really like my Canon Sx30is. It has a great lens (zoom 24-800 [optical]), and most bells and whistles you will find on DSLRs. I have a Canon 60d too, but carry the SX everywhere I go, when lugging two is not practical. The price is under $500.00. Need a filter adapter and a Circular Polarizer to go with it.
I moved up from a Canon PowerShot SX200 IS to a Canon Sx30is, I bought one this last July and I love it. One day I may move to a DSLR, but I think the SX30 will keep me learning for a while yet. Moving from picture taker to photographer in the sense that I want to get off auto and I things and think " that would make a great picture"

At that price range, I would go with ether a Canon T3i body or a Nikon d5100 body and then go with a Tamron 18-200 aftermarket lens.
any of the latest "superzooms"[pentax/nikon/olympus/canon{?}/etc.. would probably do the job for you..most of them are in the $400. price range.. they are from about 24/28mm to about 800mm/light weight/view finder as well as lcd viewer/do a good job if perfection is not needed.
I have a pentax x70 [28mm-24x zoom] and you can see how well it does at- viewbug.com - jokescache1 [pic site-and my handle{never can remember the word for on line name.},,go there and you can actually see what pentax can do]..
