I use Logitech cordless, I don't like the cords on a rodent (mouse).

I tried to connect one of them this morning, but it wasn't detected. When my son leaves for work, I'm going to try his wired mouse. I suspect it's a computer problem - but an odd one.

The cursor switches to scroll mode every now and then. Mouse buttons don't always work. If I click on Bookmarks, about a dozen tabs appear on top of the screen - every time I click on Bookmarks. I have to wait till the mouse is ready to close those tabs. I'm on a Mac now, but all my "important" data is on the Dell. I'll have to switch to another Windows machine and use a backup drive.

Since it is corded, is it optical or mechanical? If it is an older mechanical mouse, then it has a rolling ball that tracks its movement. Open up the little compartment and clean the sensors inside. They usually gum up with dust etc. every few months or so. If it is the scrolling wheel part, that is a little more involved and disposal may be the order of the day.

I have not had a corded mouse in many years. The cordless ones, especially the laser ones are so much better and other than a battery once a year, are virtually maintenance-free.

This one is optical, and it's clean. I'm hoping it's a mouse problem, but I suspect it's computer-related. There's no malware detected.

I seem to have a sick mouse - Dell, with a wire for a tail. It goes into scroll mode on its own, but I can't engage it by pushing down on the mouse wheel - not that I ever want to. I'll keep using it today, but if it doesn't cure itself, I'll have to send it to that big mouse house in the sky. I've never seen a mouse act like this before. It's been doing it for about two days now.

Glad you posted that. I've had the same problem but I assumed it was the computer at fault. Of course, it makes sense that it's the mouse. I seem to be replace mice fairly frequently.

Jerry, I use a Logitech Performance MX Mouse and even have a new backup in case something happens to the one I have in use now. I have the backup because I love this rodent so much.
Look into it and it's features and I feel you might like it too.
Charles

I use a Performance MX Master and have a Performance MX as a backup. Smoothest mice I have ever had.
Somewhere I still have my first optical mouse by Mouse Systems circa 1990.

I connected a different mouse, and it's working fine. I think this is the first time I've had a mouse go bad.

I tried three wireless, and they're not connecting. They're great when they work, but...

It's time to do the right thing and put it out of your misery.

Yes, that mouse is gone! I replaced it, and the computer is back to normal.

I stole my son's mouse when he wasn't home.

We've accumulated lots of mice over the years.
