Are you changing image metadata in Windows Explorer ONE FILE AT A TIME?

I experimented and found that I can shotgun changeable fields for a bunch of files in Windows Explorer, at least in Win 7, WITH THE SAME INFORMATION at one shot. (ie. the COPYRIGHT field.)

1. Open Windows Explorer to the directory you want to use, using the DETAILS view.

2. Highlight all files where you want to change the field. (NOTE that RAW files do not have all the fields that are available for JPEGS.)

3. Right-mouse click on any highlighted file.

4. Select PROPERTIES.

5. Select DETAILS.

6. Go to the changeable field that you want to modify.

7. Type in the new field data. (NOTE: The data will be the SAME FOR ALL SELECTED FILES.)

8. Click "OK".

Explorer will change that field data for all the files selected.

For another experiment, I did two of the fields at once. Explorer changed BOTH fields for all selected files.

I like that!

I like better the process of multi-selecting images within Lightroom and having the autofill help me apply consistent keywords to all the selected images.

Well, I don't use Light Room (or any cataloger).
If it works for you, GREAT!

I use the copy buffer.
Remember, I said the SAME data. ie. location, author, ...

Thanks for the information. I have a large batch of photos with incorrect dates. I will try your method to fix.

Hopefully you won't have a problem.
Explorer may be picky about the literal format, ie. it may barf if you are a space off?
Try one or two files at first. Then once you get the format right, copy it then paste in the next group.
