About four years ago I photographed the Memorial Lights they fire up each 9/11. The closer shot was taken from Jersey City, NJ. This year I wanted to see how it would look with more of the skyline in the picture. The more distant shot was from Eagle Rock Park, NJ. The park is 25 miles from Manhattan as the crow flies. The shooting conditions were less than ideal. Shooting through 25 miles of high humidity and pollution from the city did not allow me to get as crisp a shot as the one from just across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan. It was still a neat thing to witness. In addition to the light show, they had a string quartet playing and a screen showing victims of the attack.
