Well, it turns out that that the ones we thought were females are male American Black Ducks. I wouldn't have checked it if you hadn't asked - thanks, Jerry!

I like your photos a lot. The mallards are sharp but what I like is the rough marbling appearance of the water. I find it interesting. Great BIF too.

Thanks, Dennis. The marbling of the water was due to an aeration spray in the pond. Marbling and color effects vary according to the light and surrounding reflections.
