I really like the second one. For me, color sometimes is distracting. With many color photos my eyes are drawn to the brightest color or to my favorite color. But with grayscale or black and white, my eyes look at the entire picture. It allows me to see the whole story of the photo, not just focus on one part of it. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful pair, QD. The color version is my fav - better clouds and composition.

I like the B&W though it seems a little unbalanced because of the gate

Nice work on both of these. This looks like a place I could spend a day photographing.

Thank you! There are certainly many fascinating opportunities, but even though I knew the owner well before he passed and had his permission, I don't know his daughter or have hers, so don't step past the right of way.

In this light I like color better. On a stormy day I expect b&w to be super.

For me, the color version is about the building and landscape. In B&W I feel the clouds are the focus. I prefer the color.

Thank you! I believe I agree, the monochrome was a bit of an experiment in composition.

In the second I keep wanting to look at the gate.

Agreed. That gate is a real distraction. The color is more appealing and its composition is better.

Thanks, certainly a borderline historic one - the Old Hillman place in local terms. Unfortunately unlivable without more money than the house is worth.
