Really nice Dennis. I like 'em! I've seen a lot of these guys but never got any photos.

Nice Dennis. That is one long beak.

Thank you so much JRiepe. I am not a birder so to speak but I hang out with some pretty serious people who are from time to time. I just enjoy taking photographs of interesting and different things. I say that because to me some of these birds are very interesting and different.

Aha. Much better

Yes they do look better. When I am doing post processing I hate to make what I think are HUGE changes. Because of the dark and foggy day it seemed moving the slider quite a ways made a HUGE positive difference.

Thanks again for commenting,

Nice ones dennis, we have the 'land' Curlew over here, but alas its numbers are dropping dramatically.

Thank you so much Doddy. I appreciate your comment very much. Of course I am not familiar with your curlew but would love to see a photo if you have some. They sound interesting.

Excellent shots of an interesting bird, Dennis.

Thank you Mike.

As I type this I am reminded that it seems you take photos around the Great Salt Lake. If I have the right person do you have these birds in your area. I see them of course around the ocean but as I recall, you have some salt water nearby.

I took these photos of a long billed curlew sandpiper a couple of days ago at the Goleta Slough or Goleta Beath just North of Santa Barbara. I hope you enjoy them.

My original photos were too dark. I pulled them all, lightened them and reposted.

Wonderful shots, Dennis. Interesting bird. It a wonder that bill doesn't get broken off. I guess they get used to handling that thing.
