Hi Guys, has anyone got a clue as to what this small access cover is on my D7200..? When open it just looks through into the battery. It's annoyed me over the years since I bought the camera as my finger keeps opening it.
If it has no purpose I'm thinking of glueing it shut..

It may be a port for the wire to an AC power supply that would replace the battery. My D3300 has a port for that purpose, on the opposite side of the battery from where yours is.

Or it could be related to an accessory battery grip, but I doubt it.

The cover should be referenced in your user manual. Or, you can look for AC power supplies for your model and see if the description mentions that cover or port.

Had never noticed it. According to the manual, it is called the power connector cover. Page 319 of the manual lists an accessory EP 5b, an AC adapter. Probably plugs in with the battery removed. Thanks, I learned something new!

I have that "feature" on my D7100. It's for an external DC power supply. When I first got the camera I accidentally opened often, now not so much, guess I changed my grip without noticing it. I purchased a power supply from B&H, but still in unopened package after about three years.

OMG, never noticed them (D800, D850, D6). Now my life is complete! If I could only think of a time when I'd have wanted to use them - any suggestions would be most appreciated (insert jokes or snark here).

Seriously speaking, I think for Astro or Time lapse the power cord may be essential. I've never used one either.

Could it be for supplying power to a demonstration camera in a store.
