Thinking of purchasing a cotton carrier for 1 camera. Looking for recommendation on sling vs a vest. Which would be better, mostly with a canon 70-200 attached but may use for a sigma 150-600 also

I used a Cotton Carrier while hiking through the Black Hills (with a Canon 70-200), and loved it. It kept the camera and lens secure, while leaving my hands free for handling trekking poles, and for balancing while climbing over rocks.
I have a Tamron 150-600, and it holds it well too.

I use both Blackrapid and Op-Tech slings. I've used them both with various Canon zooms and the Sigma 150-600 Sport.

I use the sling when hiking the mountains and taking both landscape and flower shots. Very reliable.

… for me…peak design was the solution for hiking rough terrain…I use their sling and the capture to carry the camera…I like that it puts the camera higher up and away from the middle…it also gives me the flexibility of stabilizing the camera on my belt…and the clips make it so easy to remove the camera so I can attach it to a tripod…

I use a cotton carrier vest and I love it! I have rock climbed, ridden bicycles , and hiked all while wearing my gear. Love it, and it saves my shoulders. And I am a small person.

+1 on the Peak Design Capture system. I also have their slide strap but since I almost always have a backpack with me for other items, the Capture clip is my preferred method of carry. Very stable.

I have the Cotton Carrier G3 twin and it is brilliant. I had the previous version, which was a bit good, but the G3 is superb. Your camera/lens combination is in a really comfortable position with no pendulum style swinging. Consider the twin holster set up as it allows a second large lens (with tripod mount) to also be carried. I use mine with an EM1X + 300mm and an EM1.3 + 200mm f2.8. No dreadful neck ache, as most of the weight is born on your shoulders. It is easy to actually run with two cameras and lenses on a Cotton Carrier twin because they are so secure.

I recently bought the Cotton Carrier Skout and am very happy with it. You can buy extra mounting hardware if you sometimes use a different camera (I have a Nikon FX and DX.)

Using cotton carrier for years

Love it

I could sell a couple while hiking if I could get the wife to carry the inventory

Not going to happen

The vest is great. It allows me to carry two cameras securely and avoids neck pressure.

I have a bad neck which means anything on my shoulders hurts a lot. I’ve read this post but don’t understand how the vest would alleviate that as it has 2 shoulder straps. I’ve gotten to the point I figure only a waist belt bag is going to work for me. Thoughts and suggestions would be great. Thank you.
