Nikon Zfc with 28mm kit release date announced

I know some here pre-ordered this version and may be interested in this news.

The Nikon Zfc with 28mm f/2.8 special edition kit was delayed due to unanticipated demand. Nikonrumors is reporting that Nikon Japan has now given an October 1st release date. They say some who pre-ordered may actually get it that day.

They are also saying that the colored body versions will only be available for a limited time and will announce an end date when it has been decided.

I will wait until they come out with a all black one. NO, I won't even get one then. Just a cheap trick by Nikon for the old farts who remember there FM, FE, FM2, and FE2 camera's. Fortunately, I have moved on and grown up.

I have to admit I was intrigued by the amber version. It kind of had that old leather case look. Not intrigued even to buy it. I’m probably gonna sell my D500 and get out of the APS-C game altogether. Nikon FX, Olympus M4/3 and my Sony RX10MIV will cover my needs.

Good thought.

From what I've read, there may not even be enough available to fill all the back orders much less any new orders. I hope you get yours. The issue right now is more related to availability of the 28mm f/2.8 lens rather than the camera.

I got mine in early August from B&H with the 16-50 lens and I really enjoy using it. The quality of the images exceeded my expectations, it's fun and easy to use, It has an excellent feature set for its price point, it only weighs 18 oz with the lens attached,
and despite Billnikon's personal opinions about this camera and those who use it, it looks really cool.

There are a few missing features that should be there like a switch to turn auto ISO on or off without having to go through the menus, and better monitoring of the amount of remaining battery power. I'm also sure that every advanced user will find that some favorite feature from another camera is either not present or has reduced functionality. I found a couple myself, but they were not showstoppers. No matter. I had this camera with me everyday on a 10-day vacation at the end of August. It was an absolute pleasure using it. The resulting images were remarkably clean and sharp even at higher ISOs.

I hinted to my wife that I would like the 28 mm f/2.8 lens for Christmas. Of course, that assumes the lens will even be available in enough quantity by then.

Currently, the biggest issue for me, is the complete lack of availability of spare batteries. There are simply no spare batteries available anywhere right now for the Z fc and the Z 50. In addition no third party batteries for these camera bodies are currently made. I have three on back order from B&H since early August and there's absolutely no indication when they will be available.

If I hadn't come into some unexpected funds I wouldn't be buying this. I have a Z50 with one spare battery. I recently picked up a chrome Df. So, since I no longer have a lot of books after switching to tablets, I have a shelf.where I can keep a black Z50, next to.a chrome Z fc, next to a black FM2, next to a chrome Df. Or maybe I should just take a picture with an old D4s, frame it, and hang it on the wall.

If it wasn't for all the doctor's appointments, getting old has some advantages.

Having just turned 75, I know exactly how you feel.

I was getting tired of luggng around my Canon 7D Mark II which with a lens mounted weighs close to 4 lbs. It is not only heavy to drag around all day but very bulky as well. I always had to be especially careful that I didn't bang my lenses into something as I moved around. The images I get with the Z fc within the same focal range as my preferred lenses on the 7D II are at least as good and often better. I shoot mostly wide angle rather than telephoto, so the 16-50 mm focal range works well for me. The Z fc only weighs 18 oz with the lens mounted.

I haven't moved on... I have two Df's -- one in black and one in silver -- and they're spectacular! Got me back into the hobby!

I lusted after the DF myself when it was released. However I was a Canon shooter with a few bodies and a lot of lenses so I couldn't justify the cost of going to a new system at the time. The decision to move to the Z fc was easier because I'm tired of carrying all that heavy gear around and this relatively inexpensive body came with a lens that covers the focal range I most often use. The great feature set and the surprisingly good output was an unexpected benefit.

I will help you out on the meaning of emojis, this means it's a joke. Understand.

I saw the emoji and thought you might just be busting our chops, but then, you never know. And it is a bit of a toy, but it has a very decent feature set, captures excellent images, and I absolutely love the form factor. G.A.S. is mostly about buying new toys anyway.
