This fellow was sitting outside my window on top of a feeder. The blue jays were making bomb runs on him. Not sure if he is a Merlin falcon or Cooper's hawk. By the size I think it is a hawk. The photo was shot thru a window and screen with a Sony RX 100VII. I was surprised that the screen was not visible in the photo, at least not to me.

According to Nat Geo's Field Guide you havre a juvenile Cooper's Hawk. Caught it with an opened mouth, NICE!

When shooting through screens and similar things, get as close as possible and open up the F/Stop! That will reduce the interference and sometimes like your beautiful picture, make it disappear.

That's a Cooper's Hawk. A Red Tail has a black band of feathers around it's middle like a wide belt. That eliminates this species as a Red Tail

I thought it might be. We have kestrels and red tale hawks in the area.

I did use various F stops. Trying to get used to the camera. Very pleased so far.
