a mix of this and that

Good Saturday to everybody

I decided to post a mix today since I am sitting at the desk avoiding a day of carpet cleaning.

The elephant picture was done with the iPhone in the Khao Yai National Park in Thailand. The guided tours of the park are an excellent way to see a wide range of wildlife. I will post more in the future. My daughter was teaching English in Thailand so of course I had to go for a visit.

A couple of years ago I was visiting family in Central PA. There was maybe two acres of woods along the Yellow Breeches Creek and by the hotel. I went down to see what I could see. Took the Sigma 150-600 with me. I was just standing there waiting to see one of the birds that I had noticed. I looked down and there was a fox standing there looking at me. He let me take several shots then decided to move on. The original shot is grainy (sorry, I grew up in the film era) noisy as all get out so I did run it through Topaz denoise. I am pretty happy with the result.

The grass shot is the first shot I ever took through the Sigma 150-600. I was just playing around and didn't much care for the shot. I almost never do significant edits on my photos but for some reason I wanted to play with this. My edits were done in Affinity Photo. Don't remember everything that I did but the result was interesting.

The dragonfly posed for me. Kudos to the dragonfly union for letting it work with me. The only camera I had with me was the iPhone so I took it.

The weevil was done with the reversed 50mm. Don't know about some of the rest of you but my aging eyes don't make focus easy these days.
