All what has been said about Breyer's may be gospel, but I happen to really like the taste of its "Natural Vanilla".

Anything made of carbon atoms is organic. The "organic" craze is just a ridiculous selling scam.

That is true from a chemical stand point but not from a gardening stand point. From a Gardening stand point is should contain nothing that is not found in nature. No chemical, no synthetic fertilizers, no insecticides, no pesticides nothing but the natural. But there are also things in nature that are harmful like the pits of an apricot tree are poisonous but they also have a sweet pit which is the same thing that does have some in it but not enough to kill you. Or the seed of an apple that contain cyanide, not enough to kill you, or the leaves of the Rhubarb plant where you can eat the stalks but not the leaves or the seeds of the asparagus plant are poisonous but the stalks are OK. And the lists goes on and on. Some beans are toxic raw but are edible if cooked. OR POTATOES ARE POINSOUS IF GREEN BUT OK if not green but if you boil the potatoes it will kill the toxin. And then there is poke salad.

There is a cost in NZ process. Registration and on going annual testing of the of the land isnt cheap. Organic fertilizer etc is more expensive than the common chemical based ferts.
We considered going organic on a couple of paddocks when we had our small farm, just because we thought we could, but gave away the idea of getting fully certificated. Just wasn't worth it. We did ditch most chemical based sprays though and fertilized the stock paddocks only with 'rock dust'. Here's a pic of what it looks like from a drone shot https://photogenics.slickpic.com/albums/Our-Photos/photos/14450199/omanawa-road/?wallpaper

Was your ice cream organic?? Don't all vegetables have to be 'grown'? I don't think there are artificial vegetables?
