This morning I opened my email and as always look at the subjects and senders of the junk mail received. Today, two of them intrigued me some. The first was this:

"To:you

Hi
I've some fantastic new's for you.
A few more place-ments have opened up for you all seek-ing to do some-thing online .
If you have been on the look-out for some thing to do online and earn an excess income, then just take a few moments and look to this.
You will not re-gret this, and can be carried out any-where with an online connection.
See more now at a probably fictitious url that cannot be placed here.
James Henderson"

I got a kick out of the hyphenated words and the separation of something to some thing.

The next one was even better.

"To: Recipients

We received several emails from one Mrs Holand Rose who narrated to us about the auto car accident you had 2 weeks ago. Mrs Holand made us understand with some proof that you're in hospital for treatment but there is no hope of your recovery. She stated that she is your business associate and your next of kin whom you have chosen and permitted to inherit all your properties. She is in contact with us for the approval of US$10,500,000.00 (Ten Million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars Only) which has just been brought to my desk by the United State Treasury Secretary.

She requested for the Release Approval Order Certificate (RAOC ) so that the whole amount will be transferred into her own personal account as she stated below.

Account Name Mrs Holand Rose

Citibank Banamex USA

2029 Century Park East Los Angeles, CA 80068

Routing Number: 122214645

Account Number: 8744130240

We request your confirmation if you are still alive before we can process this transaction to Mrs Holand's Bank Account. Because she is already processing the Release Approval Order Certificate (RAOC).

We decided to contact you for the last time, to avoid releasing your money to wrong person, because Mrs Holand is too eager and ready to pay the fees and obtain the Release Approval Order Certificate (RAOC ) and follow every other legal instruction to have this money into her account. If you did not have an auto accident and you did not permit Mrs Holand to claim your money, kindly reply to this message with your full contact information so we can process the release of the funds to you.

I'll be waiting to hear from you soon.

Regard,

John Roberts

Chief Justice of the United States

Seal of the Supreme Court"

Why was the second one to "Recipients?" Apparently the sender wanted to let the recipients know the email was sent to several people in the hope of suckering in a few. I also wonder if the routing information could actually be for a real account somewhere.

The really good part is the title of the email, "ARE YOU DEAD OR ALIVE?"

I am tempted to write back and say, "I am so sorry, but yes, I died two days ago, my funeral is scheduled for three days from now. Go ahead and continue with the transfer of my funds. Please ask Mrs Holland Rose to attend my funeral as a last show of appreciation for my fortune."

Just how dumb are these scammers and how much dumber are the people who fall for the scams. Human nature is so difficult to comprehend.

Oh, I don't think a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would scam you. They are supposed to be honorable people.

Was the statement about honorable people a facetious, tongue-in-cheek remark?

So sorry to hear you're not going to make it. But I thought the terms of service here at UHH say that we have to leave our millions to the forum. I'm sure all us hoggers will raise a donut in your honor at your wake!

I am listening to the BBC’s Radio 4 at the moment. Their MoneyBox programme is talking about a man who lost over 400,000 pounds in a scam. Puts my loss in the shade!

I like replying back to these scammers.
One time I told him I am six years old and my sister is for sale.

I used to advertise my photo services on craigslist. Not any more! I've landed a couple of good gigs doing this. But I also got flooded with all kinds of scams. One such scammer said he wanted me to shoot his daughter's wedding in Florida. When I wrote back telling him that the cost of travel and logistics would be too prohibitive, He wrote back offering to full expenses. RED FLAG! He did give me the address in Florida. I looked it up on Google Maps. It was a small office building. And I logged out.
