Interesting caterpillar

I have lived a long life and spent a great deal of time outdoors but sometimes I find some thing that is new even to me. My son said it was a Saddle Back Moth Caterpillar. It is hard to say if it is coming or going' I don't think the eye spots are eyes but the mouth parts seem to be on that end. I can't photo stack so there is some soft focus but you can get the idea.

Oh, I don't smash them either. I just don't pick them up like I would some others.

The little buggers hide under leaves so it is so easy getting stung but fortunately their numbers are rather small.
Maybe half an inch long (back in 2009)
No wonder they hurt so much
I removed the leaf it was on for its photo shoot that day
this is what I saw from the top side of a leaf in 2014
But under the leaf is where the little monsters lurk
