Poutine and Tacos

This is one of the best meals I have had when my sister from Phoenix and I have been on vacation. Southside Junction in Fayetteville West Virginia. By the New river gorge.

Poutine. It originated in Canada. I got my first taste of it here in Iowa at a place called Zombie Burgers, which is now out of business. Then I had to make my own because I could not find it in another restaurant. Turns out the bartender has friends in the Midwest and had actually eaten at Zombie Burgers. Poutine is french fires, gravy and cheese curds.

The next one is a photo of tacos that consisted of the most original combination of ingredients that I have had. They all worked together for a flavor explosion in the mouth!

One was a deep fried avocado taco with house made pico de gallo and spicy black beans with sriracha cream and shredded romaine. The other one was deep fried sweet potatoes with house pico de gallo, salsa verde and avocado and cilantro.

Good photos. Never had Poutine, I'd guess that it hadn't yet got to the status of a National dish years ago when I went to Canada. I'm sure it is tasty, but I have trouble with the idea of taking nice crisp fries and putting gravy on them. If the occasion arises, I'll have to try it. The tacos are interesting and innovative.

Thanks for the comment. I do like them. I think they are better than Chili cheese fries so if you do get a chance please thy them. I do get my cheese curds at my FM from a cheese maker in Wisconsin, and my Poutine gravy mix from Amazon. I make my own fries using duck fat and fry them in the oven.

Awesome images here, JustJill The Tacos sound/look incredibly Tasty!!

I'm not sure about that Poutine though. I would certainly not pass it up if offered!! Sounds very interesting as I like Fries. I like Gravy. I like Cheese Curds. So... I probably would like Poutine!!

Fresh and squeaky Cheese Curds from the Cheese Factory (Face Rock) a few blocks from my Beach Cabin... Whooohoo!!
