I recently went out for breakfast/gabfest with a couple of girlfriends and afterward we went on a hunt for bees and butterflies. We did find a few and some surprises as well.
Thanks to our ever helpful and informative Docshark for confirming the identity of the little meadow hawk.
It was a very sunny day and the colours were particularly vibrant! I had to immediately buy some of the purple plants the monarchs seem attracted to. I did find it interesting that while most were shot in manual mode I did a few in P for comparison and while P shortened the shutter speed I really canโ€™t tell much of a difference.

You have captured outstanding photographs of the Monarch butterfly. The coloration of them looks true and satisfies the eye.

Thanks for commenting, Mike! We had been wandering around snapping here and there mostly in the shady woods when all of a suddenly Lesley gasped aloud and yelled โ€œlook! Look! Look!โ€ And just like that all that colour appeared!

Thanks, Hereford! (You may remember I had told you about my friends who raised Herefords for show. Weโ€™re having lunch with them next week. Their health is failing and they have now given up the cattle. But what a run they had!)
