If either of you claimed to understand her or any other woman I would call for the guys with the big butterfly net and straitjackets.

Quote from God: "I created them but am not sure I understand them all the time!"

I have two flashlights. Both DeWalt with 18v lithium batteries. I have several 18v DeWalt tools so I have several spare batteries available and they last a long time.

I threw away all my D-cell flashlights probably a decade ago. None of them ever worked when they were needed.

Your desk looks like mine does just after I have completed a thorough cleaning and reorganization. That stems in part from the fact that I utilize a sequential rather than a categorical filing system. I agree with a good friend who asked long ago, "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, what is an empty desk a sign of?" Keep stacking, my friend, and if you ever truly understand your wife, share the secret of your insight with us.

COVID has turned all of our living spaces into multi-functional areas.

My desk, indeed my whole office, is like yours, organized for immediate access to my photographic equipment and family business paperwork.

My wife’s work room, however, is so full of yarn (for knitting and spinning) and fabric (for quilting) that she can’t even use the room, so her hobbies have now spilled into the living room, where she sits for her periodic Zoom confabs.

Several times a week, we push the furniture around to make room for exercise and Tai Chi sessions on Zoom.

For my part, I am using our dining room table to support my model train layout, and my recording studio takes up a corner of the basement.

The garage has the electric hot plates for dying fabric, and a workbench for my model building and painting.

A full life requires space! You don’t get bonus points from God for a neat house.

My desk is in the same condition except I have my computer tower on the left and
my printer on the right. As long as I know where everything is, that's all that matters.

I don't see a lot of difference. You have your materials piled up on the desk while your wife jams hers under and around the desk. I will admit with my being a Type A person, my wife's habit of "leaving everything out" drives me nuts. I like to walk away from a clean desk with everything put away where it belongs, when I'm finished working. Luckily, her other good attributes helped keep us married over 40 years, though!

I hope my "general" response will be acceptable to all who have responded. I have read each one, with delight, and it appears that I am in good company with my cluttered desk, but "clear" mind. Many are truly amusing!

A quick comment to those who spoke of using their dining room tables. I was a night student in college it seemed like forever. Balancing military responsibilities with family and college wa a tough haul. The last two yrs of night school were onerous, nine hrs a semester. I turned my dining room table into my library, and for those two yrs, we ate in the kitchen. Finally got to within 25 hrs of graduation, the AF granted me a full permissive TDY to go full time, and finally at age 38, I picked up that little piece of aper and was now a college grad. Wow! it seemed like forever, but happpy I took on the challenge.

Tks again for all your great stories about this mostly male life style.

Just the opposite at my house. My husband is neat as a pin and my work area is piled high, but ask me where anything is and I can handed to you in no time

That is not so bad. Your wife doesn’t have much room to talk as far as I can see. I call it the pilot program. The piles each have a purpose.

We also share an office space, so I can't criticize anything here. Ever see a picture of Einstein's desk? Brilliant minds. Check it out and show the pic to her.
