This photo I took with my new iPhone 12pro of the Ravenal Bridge in Charleston, SC when I went to MUSC to see the specialist.

Don't know anything about the iphone but like the shot of the bridge. I have tried several times to get a good shot of it at night. Was this taken from the Charleston side or the Mt Pleasant side?

I was just in the Serengeti. I kept maps.me on to keep an eye on our location - just a general idea of various locations in the reserve. Maps.me is crazy as it virtually had every trail and 2 track we were on throughout the reserve. I would occasionally shoot a shot with iPhone - so when you swipe up on a photo it will show a map of where the photo was shot. Was nice to correlate with maps.me and with my Nikon.

That is an absolutely great image! The new cellphone technology is amazing. You have a good device and you are talented- a great combonation!

I am sorry to hear of your medical misfortune. I have heard it said that bad doctors bury their mistakes so thankfully you are alive and shooting great images. I hope the corrective procedure works perfectly so you can keep on getting around and producing good work!

I am a professional photographer with a studio full of cameras and lighting gear but I enjoy my smartphone camera for all kinds of fun and personal shooting. I never leave home it out it and find that I am shooting more personal and fun images. Of course, in my day job, I lug around all kinds of heavy and bulky gear that I would be reluctant to drag around on my days off.

I have a Galaxy S9 and I will soon go for an upgrade.

Snapseed is an awesome app- lots of advanced tools. You might want to try Tool Wiz Photo- it has some nice tools as well and is a free download with no ads.

Be well and the best of luck!

I have an IPhone SE 2nd generation cell phone. The photos it takes are amazing. Makes me wish I could afford an IPhone 12 with its more advanced camera/lens. At least that way, I’d have a camera with me at all times to capture all the things I run across that I’d like to photograph.

Last year, November, I finally replaced my aging iPhone 7 with the 12 Pro. Why? The battery was no longer hold a charge as long as I would like and I need more onboard storage. Sure, I could replace the battery for $45, but I'd still have a five-generation-older phone. Time for a new toy. As for the cost, sure, they're pricey, but averaged out over the contract period, not too much per month. I added some "down payment" to make the monthly payments even lower. Plus, as a media photographer, ATT gave me a "First Responder Discount" which makes it eve nicer.

But, I'm getting off-track. The topic is the phone. My "real" cameras are a Nikon D7100 and D7200. They do the job and do it well. BUT, I've found that when I'm shooting at night, or shooting video, the iPhone runs circles around the DSLRs. My previous iPhone 7 did a great job on video, but the 12 Pro completely smokes it.

I actually bought the basic 12, had it for a week and decided that I really wanted the "Pro" version with the third camera. Not that I needed it, but one of the three camera lenses actually is a tiny bit better than on the Pro Max. Also, the 12 Pro fits better in pockets than the Max version. But the Pro was out of stock and I had to wait a week for it to arrive at the ATT store.

In summary, it is amazing what that little thing can do. I'm not sorry that I didn't get the Max, but I was spending enough already and usually the "middle" version of anything is the best bang for the buck. Enjoy yours, I know I'm enjoying mine.

Great shot. Did you use the night mode setting on the IPhone?

Silly question, maybe, but is "night mode" automatic or do you have to physically set it to work in that mode? Asking only because I've taken several night shots and videos and it seems like "something is going on" that photos and video look so much better than I expected.

This is a really nice shot. I like it . The iPhone 12 Pro does indeed produce some nice pictures. Ive used mine for quite some time with pleasing results. No cell phone camera is going to be a replacement for our DSLRs just yet or maybe never in the future. They will however provide us an opportunity to have a real good camera readily at our disposal. Your situation is an excellent example of that. Its compact, light and capable .
Im sure sorry to hear the doc screwed up and you are now faced with pain and a disability . Its not right. I will pray for you that the specialists will come through and provide the best results possible. Hang in there and know people care. God bless

You can disable night mode. But I think it automatically goes to night mode if flash is disabled. Night mode is not good for moving subjects. So you need to manually disable it in those cases But it is crazy how good it is for stills. I recently used it for a caverns tour and got some shots I would not have gotten with my other cameras. And especially not hand held.

You can also use it for night vision if needed. A handy tool I have used often.

That photo should convince you that the iPhone camera is superb but still requires a great photographer. I have the 12 pro max and with the three lenses it provides great flexibility. I use the phone as often as my Nikon Z. Most of the time I can’t tell the difference between the Z and the 12, especially looking at the images on a monitor or even on my 75” big screen. I know I will get flak for this statement and will be told my eyes are poor. But the image quality is in the eyes of the beholder.

Hello fellow hoggers. Over a year ago I had a operation in a very tender and personal area. My biggest mistake was I trusted a general surgeon then to go to one that specializes in the area only. The general surgeon screwed me up and I have now been to see two specialist that both agreed that the operation should have never been performed on me. It has left me that now for almost 2 years I can not carry my camera nor can I walk a long time or take the time to sit at my computer and edit my photos. So my husband said how about replacing your older IPhone with the new 12 Pro. I know it is not of the quality of my Canon cameras I have 4 of them nor any of the lenses I have. But at this time the phone is light and I can edit my pictures in Snapseed on my IPad at least. I gave away my 7d as that one was the heaviest and I know I will never use it again. I just hope the young man I gave it to will have much joy with it. I am keeping all the rest for now as the specialist (both) have ok me to see a Pain and Spine Specialist who has a shot that might help block my pain. So two things I am trying to share with this post. First the new phones with the better cameras are good. Second please unless it’s a wart don’t trust a general surgeon for surgery that a specialist should be doing. This photo I took with my new iPhone 12pro of the Ravenal Bridge in Charleston, SC when I went to MUSC to see the specialist.

Is it possible to download the image to Lightroom to do some improvements?
