I had the opportunity to see Union Pacific's steam engine BIG BOY 4014, it is an incredible machine. Built in the early 1940s and fully restored, it is a site to be seen. I took these photos in Denton and Fort Worth Texas.

Nice. I got some photos of her in California a few years ago in the Banning Pass just off the I-10 Hwy.

I'm glad they keep that running. If I had a train layout, I'd like to buy one, but at over $1,000, I probably wouldn't.

I would love to see Big Boy but it's not going to be touring anywhere near me so I'll just have to enjoy wonderful photos such as these.

This might not apply to Big Boy, but a loco that was even longer was limited to where it could travel. The curves had to be gradual. It was put on display at the 1939 World's Fair and went into use after that. Designed by Raymond Loewy, it was a beautiful streamliner. It didn't have a very long service life.
