Another year and and another of Florida's own treasure bloom, the extremely rare Super Ghost Orchid at Corkscrew Swamp. These orchids love it hot and humid and I believe the humidity would have been 200% yesterday if possible
....good thing the camera was sweat proof. The first photo (24mm, SOOC with addition of a location circle) shows where the orchid is located as you walk along the boardwalk at Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp. If there were no signage, you'd probably never see it. Second photo shows it just above the 'Y' in the extremely old Bald Cypress tree. It currently has four blooms and will bloom through most for September. This and other orchids and flowers are currently protected.
NatGeo has done an excellent short film on the Ghost Orchid and is well worth watching if you haven't seen it....

Nice one. Good eye. I've seen several tutorials for making pictures of "ghosts." Not real ghosts, though. That's too scary. : )

Interesting botany lesson but I would not have chosen a 28mm lens for this project.

Thanks Jerry and I'm really not into shooting ghosts...

Mike, the first was to give a perspective from the boardwalk, the other was taken with 600mm equivalent and heavily cropped.
So cool Blaster! Imagine making a contribution to science like that. Darwin would surely have been proud and appreciative of these guys. Thanks for posting this. Great link too!
