The U.S. intention to turn Afghanistan into a working democracy was doomed from the start. The mentality of the Afghan leaders just wasn’t there. Still we persisted, amid the corruption and waste.

Its certainly not a garbage piece

This is not new information but its still well worth a read as are past reports from people like Michael Yon - an experienced combat photographer.
