No, never tried it back in the'60's, valued what little sanity I had then and can still claim. I do require a little acid with a rich Italian dish. This a Chili Lime mixture from Savory Spice, bought in Santa Fe, fresh lime juice and Sea Salt on sliced tomato. The carbonara compromise, olive oil, half a ham steak, with a couple of slices of prosciutto chopped and added at the end while the ham is cooking. Eggs, grated peccorino and parmesano reggiano, parsley (unfortunately dried). Ranch cooking! Boring, but it works, a nice Tempranillo accompanying.
Great dish Q I love the combination

Thanks very much! With what was in the house, either tomato or a small salad. Got pretty tired of salads during our long heat wave.

Thanks a lot! Though I have a fair selection of dishes that I cook, every so often, based on mood or ingredients on hand, there have to be repeats. Since I try to post to the site regularly...
It hardly seems boring to me! Cooking can be exciting and eating good food even more so!
QD, you’ve done it again.
Great meal and photos.
I’ll give it a try later this week.
Do you have a recommendation on the Tempranillo?

Oscar Wilde said "I can resist anything but temptation." Glad to help with your meal plan! We like a fairly modest one Anciano, we get it at World Market. Can't recall the price, would guess $10 or under after Member Discount.
This one is making me hungry!

Thanks QD; just checked, my favorite liquor store does not carry Anciano. I will have to pick out a different label.
The Cowboy Gourmet strikes again!
