I am looking for recommendations on hard cover photo book vendors. (Like Blurb) I took photos for a local artist, and she wants a hard cover book. Looking for high quality. I have never created a book before.
Thanks.

I had this same question a while back. Here is a section on the Hog that may have some answers. Also, search "photo book" on the Hog and you'll get some great places in forums to check out this subject.

Here are the sites spoken about on the Hog in link (https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-333478-1.html) plus Photobook America which I tried out and liked. The often have huge sales where you get up to 85% off. I purchased an 80 page 8x11 book from them for $11.99 and was pleased. I would suggest getting a hard cover book that lays flat on a table. Good luck...and let us know what you went with and what your experience was! :0)

I have used Shutterfly for years. I just printed my Third Edition of Florida wildlife images. I also use them for my Viking trips. I also do a yearly book of images for the family.
Very high quality and excellent customer service. I pester them all the time.
HINT, I finish my books and put them in my projects folder then wait for them to offer free extra pages and 40% off everything, then I order.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

I use Blurb. Easy transition from Lightroom. Quality hard covers books.

If you're a member of Costco, look at their books. I've never used them for myself, but I have seen them.

Costco, Costco! The product is great, the software easy to use, the price is right, and the service and deliver excellent. I've had them publish over 40 photo books.

I have done several books using Printique. My opinion is they are excellent quality and shipped pretty quickly. You'll have a choice of covers but I have only used hard covers. Once you figure out the layout software (if I can do it, you can do it) you can create the book of your choice.

A question about these book services. All the ones I've looked at only use 8-bit files. Does anyone know of one that will use a 16-bit file? And, will it make the difference I imagine it will?

I just made a 11x14 inch 140 page four decades of photography book. I picked Blurb because it was the only company that I could find with excellent colour management and icc profile. I've been involed in book and calendar publications for many years. I converted the images to cmyk and made my own PDF layout using Affinity Publisher. The book quality was superb.

And I thought I was the only one that left them in the folder waiting for discounts! Been using Shutterfly for years, always satisfied. A few years ago the binding on a hardcover book started separating shortly after we received it, and after only 1 post to customer service they rushed a replacement copy out to us.

Depends what your budget is and if you are a professional photographer or not. For high end books I use an Italian company but they are expensive, though superb quality. If you want standard lower end books, use the ones suggested. If you want higher quality but high price then look at White House Custom Color (WHCC) or H&H color labs. they offer very good products in hard back books but are more expensive and for Professional photographers. But if you want the top quality then you'll have to pay for that and look at Album Epoca for example.
