What is the best stand al one software? I do not need to catalog or do any heavy duty editing of photos. The Photoshop Elements that I had will no longer work and says it had to be updated. I know what that means- buy a monthly subscription to it. I do not do enough editing for that.

I should add that I shoot with Sony A6000 and a Canon 7D - mostly the Sony.

PS elements is not subscription software, never was and remains the subscription alternative. Look to see if your prior purchase generates and 'upgrade' purchase / price, rather than paying full retail.

If you have been using Elements and are somewhat familiar with it, just go out and purchase the newest version. Elements is still purchased and not subject to the monthly rental.

PS Elements is not a subscription, it’s stand alone. It’s new versions mainly add new camera compatibility plus a few gizmos to play with. If you don’t do much editing you likely don’t need Elements. Find something simpler.

Okay, I will try that. I just assumed it would be subscription since most of them are now.
Thanks to all for your fast response .

Hear what he says. Upgrading your Photoshop Elements shouldn’t be more than $80 for a non-subscription upgrade thru Adobe. Actually, Amazon is running a special right now for PSE 2021 for $60.

The best price for Photoshop Elements comes about twice a year. One is the holiday season coming up in a couple months. It will probably be about $60.

The OP writes, "I do not need to catalog or do any heavy duty editing of photos." Both Windows and Apple computers come with basic photo and video editing software. Adobe gives away a competent, basic program called "Photoshop Express".

If you don't need cataloging or heavy duty editing, then try Fasttone Viewer. It is free, and the companion program, Batch Resizer is super.

I read the reviews on the 2021 Elements and I think that I will pas on it. The good reviews were not the best.

When you do, skip all offers to buy things. Adobe offers add ons that might be fun for some. For basic photo editing, none of those are necessary.

If you don't have need for heavy duty processing, Adobe Photoshop Express is an excellent choice, It's free, and essentially has no learning curve. Give it a try!
