This is a total GVT overreach. The local board decides as a whole to mandate masks. The governor says "HELL NO!!! I DICTATE THE MANDATE!!!"

And now...

This ^&&^%* needs to be impeached. Playing with kids' life for marginal political gain is criminal.

Note: Florida does not have a recall law or process. We are stuck with the &&*&^^.

But our beloved Texas Governor had mandated that it is up to the parent to decide if their kid is going to wear a mask or not. This is to be decided by the same people that have one of the highest unv******ted rates in the country. School districts are going against him and they are mandating the kid will wear a mask from the time he gets on the bus till he gets off the bus or be quarantined in a special room.

Two days ago he tested positive and is quarantined

Time will tell, but I don’t believe Broward or Miami-Dade will change their decisions. The politically motivated Governor has engaged in a battle that he will not win. Carvalho, especially, will not sway from his convictions.

And your Lt. Governor Patrick just blamed the surge on unv******ted African Americans.

"In a few areas, however, the fourth wave has brought greater clarity. As c***d’s third wave seemed to be fading in
But then Florida and Texas led the resurgence of c****-** in the United States, filling hospital beds and intensive care units across those states. Cities, school districts, hospitals and businesses naturally want to take measures such as mask and v*****e mandates that are equal to the severity of the outbreak.

What was supposed to be a costless, largely symbolic political commitment has led DeSantis and Abbott to a particularly vivid moral choice. Should they allow local government and community institutions to save people from harm? Or should they actively prevent those measures to appease a radical faction of their party?

The decision, it seems, wasn’t close for them. There is no public evidence of inner turmoil. If they had defied the populist base of the Republican Party, their careers (and p**********l prospects) would have been as good as over.
Now these governors have a problem, as does their party.

The challenge for the governors is that public health is not the same as other issues. Their actions will lead, directly and predictably, to deaths in their states. This constitutes a betrayal of public trust so grave — a violation of moral responsibilities so depraved — that I am not sure there is a word for it. Selling the lives of your fellow citizens to a foreign power is treason. What is the proper description of selling the lives of your fellow citizens to a crazed political interest group?

These governors are attempting, of course, to take refuge in principle — the traditional right not to have cloth next to your face, or the sacred right to spread nasty infections to your neighbors. But such “rights” talk is misapplied in this context. The duty to protect public health during a p******c is, by nature, an aggregate commitment. Success or failure is measured only in a total sum. Incompetence in this area is a fundamental miscarriage of governing. Knowingly taking actions that undermine public health is properly called sabotage, as surely as putting anthrax in the water supply.

So maybe that’s the right word: saboteurs.

The problem for the Republican Party is that one of the central demands of a key interest group is now an act of sociopathic insanity. Some of the most basic measures of public health have suddenly become the political equivalent of gun confiscation. It’s as if the activist wing of the GOP decided that municipal trash pickup is a dangerous socialist experiment. Or chlorine in public pools is an a****a plot. There can be no absolute political right to undermine the health and safety of your community. Or else community has no meaning.
Public health can’t be reasonably understood in culture war terms. There are no winners and losers here — because all of us, together, either win or lose. This is one area — perhaps the primary area — where we are one people. But it also shows how sick souls can result in sick and dead bodies."

It will be interesting to see if the rest of the country does not catch up with Florida and Texas... South Florida is a rich target for any mutation of the v***s coming out of South America, just as New York was the epicenter of the first US breakout. And Texas? Well you can blame Biden for that with over 1.5 million border crossings in less than a year of unvaxed i*****l i*******ts with some 15% testing positive for c***d and then released into Texas....

If the rest of the country catches up DeSantis will be exonerated, if not, it will cost him.

Actually the governor is the one who has the power to do as he says and is saying NO mandates which is good.
This is giving individuals the CHOICE as to to what they wish with their bodies. Sort of like HIV positive people not having to wear ID saying they are HIV positive etc. Or allowing women to do what they wish with their bodies to include the murder of children even after being born alive and viable.

LOL... Never seen you complain when the Federal government uses funding to push the individual states around.... Read the constitution and then pay special attention to the tenth amendment.... How's that working these days?

Kinda hypocritical here....

Give individuals the CHOICE to to what they wish with their bodies when it comes to C****-** and the v*****e but, take away that VERY SAME CHOICE when it comes to a******n.

Both situations could be construed as including murder (as you put it). Only one of them can be seen as involving mass murder.

Flawed logic results in BS and this qualifies.

I see no hypocrisy.
A******n is allowed.
So you are wrong there.
And my comment is true in that babies that are "aborted" alive and viable are purposely k**led. That by definition is murder.
